carlsbad might treat me alright!

Though I won't be able to swim in the ocean. Who know's if I will get to even go to the beach. Legoland is probably off limits, but I think I could do some nice work with the tourist waiting in lines. Good news I can gaze at the flowers as much as I want. I plan to stay an extra week in California to hit up Legoland, the beach and probably my grandma's house! Merritt, Diane, Jenny, Abby, Jeff, Katie, and Aaron you guys in? December 2013 Carlsbad Christmas!

sister andrus!

I've chosen CELIBACY(though all un-married Mormons are celibate)!  I received my mission call. WOOOAH. I will be serving in the California Carlsbad mission leaving June 6th. Pretty exotic right?
Why don't you come on a journey with me.

The first step, starting my papers.

Next my little sister snaps a mission pic in the backyard.

My office friends begin to guess where I'll be serving.

The call arrives! Let's open up this bad boy in fathers office.

Mom and Dad check it out.

 "Yeah California is warm"

 Friends come to celebrate.

Dance girls! Missing a few Jill, Sadie, Kambri, Jessie, Hay Hay and probably someone else that I'm going to feel really bad that I didn't write their name.

Emily! Roommates! and Mady!

Kay Kay and Ashtag wouldn't miss this.

And this wouldn't be a party without the broyas

 Vikings re-unite!

 More vikings
 Ko Ko arrives!
Let's take another picture now that Korinn is here.

Sami

Baby sisters (please excuse my crusty appearance)!

Yeah Yeah yeah! I can't wait to be a homely sister missionary. I'm so thankful for my wonderful parents who support me through everything I do. Also my amazing wonderful grandparents who shower love down on me. AND my siblings: my really smart older sister who is all around awesome, my two baby sisters who are so cute I can't get enough of them,  and my dashing little buddy Jeffrey George who is such a good example to me. I'm also thankful for my great extended family: aunts, uncles, and cousins.  BUT I couldn't do this without all the support from my wonderful friends. They are all such good influences on my life and I'm so blessed to be surrounded by their bright sunny spirits. Roommates: Mel, Sam, Sarah, Jilly, Avy, Mercedes and sometimes Kambri and Katelyn(ha) oh I'm going to throw Emily darling in with that crew, KoKo, Ashley Palmer, Rachel, Dance girls, PG vikings, My GPS brothers, The Broyas, Brighton girls camp ladies, the Justice crew, Elementary Ed friends, my office friends, and many more I'm sure that i forgot but I still love you!

The most exciting thing that's happen to me in a while: winning a contest in English class this morning. I wrote the best haiku poem of an Oreo, and I won two dang delicious Oreos! EAT THAT (literally)!

I'm double stuffed
Cause I ate an Oreo
Stretchy pants today

Also a little 5th grade boy told me he got his middle name from his uncle whom choked on blinds.

on a weirder note

So guess what? I'm 21 years old and I'm taking piano lessons from Diane Andrus-the best music teacher a kid could dream up. I practiced my first piano song, "Jingle Bells," for twenty minutes today. Now that's time well spent.

On a weirder note
My roommates last year noticed how strange I am and began calling my room Narnia. Maybe they just felt really happy when they came in my room because there were lots of patterns and colors screaming at them. They probably felt like overly stimulated babies. So the other day Kambri's adorable little niece was over at our apartment. She asked Kambri where my room was. She then proceded to walk into my room and yell "Jackpot, Becky's got toys!" That night when I returned home I was very frightened to find all my toys laying in the middle of my floor with their eye balls on me.  As I'm looking around my room this evening waiting to run out of things to do besides go to sleep I have noticed the strange array of items in this room of mine.

1. A water baby named Baby-sass-me
2. A stuffed pony
3. A little stuffed multi colored man that sings happy birthday to me (thank you Emily)
4. A box full of tinsel
5. A little circle with a face on it that sings "When the sunshine is flowing my whole world is glowing I'm happy so happy today." (thank you Diane)
6. A phone shaped like a hamburger (thank you Mady)
7. A pillow that says "little miss sunshine"
8. A wall flag decoration that has 4 giant pictures of me on it (thank you Kambri)
9. A teapot
10. A lime green dresser
11. Zebra sheets
12. Purple and white rollerskates
13. Some light up jewelry
14. My body

What's in your room?

Dyslexic's say the darndest things

This Christmas me and my OUTOFCONTROL little sister had a special request for Diane(my mother, now that I'm 21 and adult like I call her that). We specified that we would like baseball shirts that said Dyslexics Untie. Most humans would realize this is quite funny because it should say dyslexics unite. BUT a dyslexic head would read it as untie not unite. Anywhosers that's what we wanted for you see we both have mild cases of the LEARNING DISABILITY dyslexia. Isn't that the worst name um hi I'm Becky and  have a learning disability and it's hard for me to learn...? What does that even mean? So Diane promptly worked to find us the perfect shirts to proudly parade around town hopefully causing a scene.
Christmas eve comes and I get a glimpse of these beautiful tees. They are perfect, a glowing white tee with baby boy blue quarter length sleeves. My eyes were suddenly pulled to the center of the shirt it read dyslexics unite? What? My learning disabled head is suddenly very confused.  "MOM IT'S SUPPOSED TO SAY UNTIE NOT UNITE!" I proclaim to my mother. Diane then calmly puts on her primary teaching voice "Um Becky read it again." "OOOOOOOoooo boy"
Christmas morning I can't wait for little sissy to rip open that present that holds her dyslexic pride baseball tee so we can slip into them and have an insta photo shoot. She begins to pull away little elf wrapping paper and realizes what she is holding "OH the dyslexic shirt! Wait why does it say unite?" OH no all stereotypes of dyslexic people had suddenly become true. My poor mother had to pull out that same primary voice again. "Jenny read it again." "OOOOHHHhh."

The shirt that were made to trick us had... and we loved every second of it. Now this is not the only funny (but really its mostly embarrassing) time we've had as dyslexics in fact i've had to google how to spell half the words I'm typing. Here's some of our best lines

Becky: "Hey where are Sade and Cadie dang it I mean Cade and Sadie."

"My bed is under my pillow" -Jenny

At the dinner table "Pass me the mustard I mean the mayonnaise, I mean the salt, I mean the salad dressing, gosh the butter!" -Jenny. (what none of those things have anything in common)

At school the teacher asks "Becky how do you spell pencil, you've spelled it wrong on your paper." Becky: "AAh I honestly couldn't tell you." Teacher: "P.E.N.C.I.L." Becky: "Oh yeah I would have put an E on the end." (I'm a junior in college)

Elementary Student: "Miss Becky how do you spell cousin." Becky: "Um hold on...." I'm now trying to write it with my finger on the desk... nothing... i write it on paper... that doesn't look right....ok now i'm typing it in a text...nope still can't do it. Becky:  "hey Sally how do you spell cousin?" Sally: "C.O.U.S.I.N" (she's in 2nd grade) Becky: "Oh yes Sally very good" Sally: "Is that one of my spelling words?"

One day I call my home, ring ring ring, someone answers with: "Heavenly Father?!" Becky: "UM Jenny?"

black girl white girl

As young teenagers my dear friend Mercedes and I found it very humorous that she has darker skin than I. We could not get over the fact that I am blonde with fair skin and she is brown headed with dark skin. "we are SO opposite!" we would say to people. No one ever found it as humorous as we did. SOOOO what did we do? We took a few racially offensive pictures and created a MYSPACE page. The world needs to see these pictures because they are too good and too ugly to stay in a pictures folder on my desktop. Here's to miss Mercedes one of my dearest friends over the years, what would I do without her!
Love you black girl!
